![]() It's an upscale, gourmet food market, with down-to-earth prices," says Steve Kaufman, one of the owners of FoodWorks FoodWorks is a full service, upscale, gourmet market, café, and caterer in the heart of the city's Flatiron district. The expansive 6,000-square foot space is located at 10 W 19th Street, just west of 5th Avenue. The interior design of FoodWorks combines the use of unfinished metals and 100-year-old weathered barn wood to create a rustic warehouse ambiance. The market carries a well-priced selection of fresh breads, desserts, produce, prepared foods, cheeses, cold cuts, and packaged grocery items, including preserves, mustards, sauces, spreads, crackers, and cookies. FoodWorks also bottles imported Tuscan extra-virgin olive oil and balsamic vinegar on the premises. Shoppers can also choose from an extensive array of high-grade coffee beans, which can be purchased by the pound and custom ground, as well as a wide assortment of teas. Rise and shine with breakfast at FoodWorks, including a wide variety of gourmet coffees and teas, bagels, muffins, and eggs...to name a few. Lunch offerings include an array of daily hot entrée specials, prepared foods, soups, pre-made and custom sandwiches, salads, pizzas, sushi, and more. Enjoy your purchases at FoodWorks in the beautifully designed 27-seat café, take them back with you to the office or home, or have them delivered right to you. The snug and cozy café also functions as an art gallery, featuring periodically changing photography, painting, and collage exhibits. FoodWorks does both social and corporate catering, seven days a week, and can work with you in customizing a menu to fit your special needs and budget. Partners and owners Steve Kaufman and Adam Gershuny, long-time friends since the fourth grade in Queens, bring their vast experience from the cheese industry to FoodWorks. Steve is a former manager of his family shop, East Village Cheese, and Adam was owner of the recently closed Cheese on the Park in Park Slope, Brooklyn. They are both disciples of the late, legendary Murray Greenberg of Murray's Cheeses in the West Village. Greenberg helped them open their two respective shops. |
